Transform Your Life with Therapy

Dedicated Therapy Support for Individuals and Families in Denver, Colorado

Find Your Way to Healing

Society taught you that you need to meet certain expectations in order to give and receive love. Have you worked hard to fill these roles only to still feel like you’re not good enough? Are you stuck in people-pleasing mode, finding it easier than advocating for your own needs? Do you struggle identifying and advocating for your needs? I know that feeling all to well. I work with clients who are committed to identifying patterns of self-betrayal and fear that have held them back and reshaping them to connect with a life that they find meaningful. If you are looking to stop repeating negative patterns and break the cycle of trauma and neglect in your family, therapy is a great catalyst to create that change.

Does This Sound Like You?

Do you find yourself feeling disconnected in your relationships, longing so badly for connection but not sure how to accomplish it? Do you view your body as separate from you, sometimes not even sure of how or why you feel the way you do? Perhaps you’ve been telling yourself that “it’s not that bad” for so long that you don’t even know where to begin. Do you feel like too much and not enough all at the same time? Do you just want to feel better?

My Approach to Therapy Sessions

If you desire to cultivate a life that feels connected and purposeful, therapy can help. Whether you’ve experienced significant trauma, neglect, or have never felt like you belong, therapy is where you can begin to heal. Drawing from my training and experience, I can help you understand why you’ve been trapped in the same patterns so that you can turn towards a life full of meaning and joy. Together, we will explore your negative self-talk with curiosity to begin to see what that voice is trying to tell you. Does it have your back? I help folks connect to their inner wisdom, to the fierce advocate we all have inside. You don’t have to FEEL ready to BE ready. Let’s go.

Hi there, I'm Vanessa

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who embraces a direct and empathically grounded approach to my work. I am experienced in working with clients who may have diagnoses such as ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Addiction, and other clinical disorders but focus on healing instead of pathologizing. I am LGBTQ+ allied and strive to provide a safe space in which you can explore what you are already doing to live a fulfilled life as well as ways in which to truly embody those skills. I use humor and our therapeutic relationship to help you feel supported and seen. Together, we will work to identify ways to strengthen self-compassion, self-care, and self-love.

I know how important it is to feel safe and heard during the healing process. I chose to become a therapist because of the powerful transformations I experienced in my own personal work. I view therapy as a collaborative process. I am not here to give you advice. I am here to help guide and reconnect you to your innate wisdom. I am here to support you. You’ve got this.

"Vanessa is authentic, precise, and skillful with her clients. Her mix of warmth, humor, and directness are a rare combination, and her support of clients is truly special. She has an incredible amount to offer every client she sees."

Frequently Asked Questions

Each individual therapy session is 50 minutes and is either in-person at my Denver-based office or online via HIPAA-compliant video services. While we will spend part of our first session discussing your history and what brings you to therapy, I believe that whatever you bring into the room is what you need to talk about at that time. There is no right or wrong to way to do therapy. Some clients have very specific therapeutic goals, and we develop clear structure and tangible steps to achieve those goals. Other folks show up to discuss what is going on for them at that particular moment. We will use our therapeutic relationship to help identify and process issues that are coming up for you outside of therapy, and however and with whatever you come in with is just perfect. Because the work we do together is healing through relationship, I ask that new clients commit to at least meeting every other week (ideally weekly) in order to build that relationship and gain trust.

I am an out-of-network provider which means I do not take insurance. Monthly, I can provide a superbill (detailed invoice) for clients to submit to their insurance provider for reimbursement of services (if applicable). Please check with your insurance company regarding your reimbursement policies for counseling. Here are some questions to ask your insurer:

What are my out-of-network benefits?

* What percentage of payment is covered?

* How many sessions are covered as part of my policy each year?

* Is telehealth covered? (if applicable)

* Is family therapy covered? (if applicable)

* Have I met my deductible and/or out-of-pocket max?

* What is needed for reimbursement?

* $160 per 50-minute session for individual counseling and parent coaching

* $190 per 50-minute session for family therapy

* $190 per 50-minute session for couples therapy

I appreciate that often cost can be a barrier to therapy. I have a limited number of sliding scale spaces available that I typically reserve for people who lack access to resources due to structural inequality.

You may cancel or reschedule your appointment at any time; however, I require a minimum of 24 hours notice before a scheduled appointment to avoid a session fee. All cancellations made less than 24 hours from the time of the appointment and all “no shows” will be charged the full session amount. This is to ensure availability for all clients.

By law, you are entitled to a “Good Faith Estimate” under the No Suprises Act. This means that healthcare providers are required to give patients who are not using insurance to pay for services an estimate of the bill for all medical services to avoid surprise bills. This includes counseling services. You will be provided a Good Faith Estimate before starting treatment and can also request this at any time.

I am EMDR-trained (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) so can provide trauma-specific therapy. We can also use this tool to heal attachment wounds.

Additional modalities I am trained in include: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing.

I love working with folks ages 12+. I’m not trained in play therapy, so I don’t see littles. I devote a portion of my caseload to teenagers and their families, but the majority of my practice is focused on adults.
